The Life-Saving Importance
of Water Safety

Drowning is a silent and devastating reality that affects families every single day. Did you know that drowning is the leading cause of accidental death in children 1 to 4? The heartbreaking truth is that a child can drown in less than 25 seconds. Understanding the risks and taking steps to prevent these tragedies is not just important—it’s life-saving.

Raising Awareness: Protect Your Little Ones

My advocacy for water safety began in the most painful way imaginable—the loss of my 4-year-old son to accidental drowning. It’s a loss no parent should ever endure. In the wake of that tragedy, I’ve dedicated myself to helping families protect their children. Through this page, I hope to honor my son’s memory by empowering others to make water safety a priority, in the hope that it will save lives.

8 Essential Water Safety Tips Every Parent Should Know

  • Be present: No phone call, text, or quick errand is worth the risk.
  • Teach Early: Start conversations with young children about water safety.
  • Don’t rely on floaties: They are not a substitute for supervision or swimming skills.
  • Keep an eye on small areas: This includes bathtubs or even a bucket. Toddlers can drown in as little as a few inches of water.
  • Teach kids to swim early: Enroll your children in swimming lessons.
  • Install Pool Fences & Barriers: If you own a pool or live near other bodies of water, install barriers or fences to restrict access.
  • Wear neon swimsuits: Dress children in neon colors for better visibility in water, making supervision easier.
  • Learn CPR: Equip yourself with CPR training. It could save a life in those critical moments before help arrives.
