Ready to harness the power of spirituality? Here are the tools you need to access a new level of meaning, purpose and peace.

I’m a deeply spiritual person.

And over the years, my spiritual relationship has carried me through the toughest of times – those experiences and traumas I thought I’d never survive.

As long as I held onto my faith, I eventually found my way through the pain … and into purpose

Of course, spirituality can be tied to religion for some, and for others, it can be a connection to a source, the universe, a higher power, or even your own higher self

It’s different for everyone, but no matter what we call it, I think the benefits are pretty universal.

The Power of Spirituality

It Gives You New Meaning

For me, my spiritual relationship is how I support myself in finding meaning and purpose in this life.

Through the ups and the downs, my spirituality helps me formulate the ability to see things differently, to open up a new perspective, and to choose how I want to interpret and respond to my own life experiences.

It’s the inner compass that helps me shape my values and beliefs, and it always leads me straight to my God-given purpose.

Being able to rely on a deep spiritual connection means that you always have a space to turn to, where you get to decide the meaning of your life experiences. It gives you a reflective place to search for the right answer for you, and that process strengthens your conviction and gives you direction.

It’s a process that creates a truly meaningful sense of purpose

It Aligns You With Your Purpose

Once you can tap into that kind of spiritual purpose, things will start to fall into place as your beliefs and behaviors align to support it.

You see, when you don’t have that kind of clarity and conviction on a spiritual level, it’s really difficult to have the commitment, too. This is what tends to happen when we feel stuck, or we struggle to see beyond our current circumstances when we lose sight of the joy and possibilities.

Oftentimes, a lack of spiritual purpose will leave you rudderless and unmotivated.

So when you finally tap into that spiritual relationship and start to feel purpose again, it can be life-giving. You start to develop that innate inner knowing of who you are and what you’re capable of. You feel connected, engaged, and even have a sense of wholeness.

You start to realize that what you need to be happy and fulfilled is actually within – and not something external to be found in accomplishments or material possessions or even the approval of others.

When you tap into your spirituality, you start to accept yourself and realize just how much you have to contribute to this world. And that creates a ripple of positive change across all areas of your life.

It Allows For Deeper Healing

Once you open yourself up to a spiritual relationship, the deeper healing begins. It provides the space between what happened and what it can mean. It allows you to see the wisdom and then honor it in your beliefs and actions. And when you do that, there’s no wound you can’t heal.

You’ve finally created a space where forgiveness and unconditional love and acceptance can grow. You’re nurturing the compassion and kindness that lives within your heart. You’ve begun to cultivate an inner peace that nothing can take from you. That’s the greatest component of a spiritual relationship.

Now, that doesn’t mean you won’t have moments of stress or hardship. Life isn’t meant to be blissfully peaceful every day. But it does mean that, when those moments come, you’ll no longer lose yourself inside of them.

My spiritual relationship has given me hope and comfort during some of the hardest times of my life – and I’ll never be without it. Because that internal relationship is my roadmap to finding inner peace, and it’s all within me

Tools To Develop Spirituality

If you, too, want to discover the tools to develop the power of spirituality, you have to start exploring what it means to you. If you’re not sure, here are a few tools that have helped me.

1. Meditation

I love meditation because it helps me to slow down and be present. When I do that, it’s much easier to align with a higher level of thinking and consciousness, to look at situations differently, and find my peace within them. For me, it brings the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual components into balance. It centers me in a way that makes the answers clear.

2. Nature

Nature is one thing that connects us all. It can ground you, make you feel expansive, remind of your strength, or take your breath away. It allows you to distance yourself from all the worries and recalibrate. When I’m in nature, I can process obstacles better and more easily return to a sense of centeredness. And sometimes all it takes is bare feet on the grass or a deep breath of ocean air.

3. Movement

When I can’t get out of my head, I like to get into the body. Move your body in ways that feel good and productive, based on what you’re feeling. Need to work off frustration? Smack a ball around the tennis court. Ready to let go of repressed feelings? Yoga can be helpful in bringing things to the surface gently. Feeling nothing at all? Dance until you do! If nothing else, try going for a slow, easy walk in the park. It doesn’t have to be hard in order to release the emotional and physical stress from your spirit.

4. Affirmation

As silly as we might think this sounds, saying positive affirmations aloud to yourself can be incredibly powerful. When you focus on one positive thought, the mind will follow it. It’s a way to intentionally choose to align with your happiness and eliminate negativity. You’re giving yourself permission to reframe and create a deeper meaning. And it connects you to your truth. Ready for a simple yet powerful one? Every day I am living my divine purpose.

5. Do What Brings You Passion

One of the easiest ways to tap into the power of spirituality is to re-engage in activities that bring you passion. What’s that thing you could get lost in for hours because it makes you feel peace and purpose at the same time? What makes you feel like you’re in church – even when you’re miles from the nearest chapel? What brings you inspiration and creativity without trying? For me, it’s painting. The paintbrush brings out things my mind never could. It taps into my spirit. What works for you?

Try a few of these tools and see if they help you tap into your own human spirit. See how much peace and clarity can come from just those simple practices.
